WHY TWO TRANSLATIONS APPEAR

Do not “resolve” an official-document conflict by deleting the stricter instruction

The current MOFA Georgia page contains an English-translation instruction in its Markhoos driving note and a Georgian notarised-translation instruction in its laws section for private-car driving. The Embassy FAQ also supports Georgian translation/legalisation for UAE citizens.

When official guidance contains multiple layers, the practical editorial response is to surface them, identify the context and ask the rental supplier which document it will require at handover. Simplifying this to “English is fine” or “Georgian only” would overstate what the sources support.

MOUNTAIN ROUTE PLANNING

Georgia rewards self-drive flexibility, but route choice should drive vehicle choice

A city-focused Tbilisi trip and a mountain-heavy itinerary to Mestia are not the same rental problem. Georgia Travel explicitly notes that off-road vehicles are convenient in mountainous regions. That is a useful planning signal, not permission to ignore weather, road closures or rental exclusions.

If the trip includes unfamiliar winter/mountain conditions, compare the value of a local driver against the perceived freedom of self-drive. The cheapest rental is not automatically the safest or most practical transport plan.

Georgia entry access for UAE residents does not automatically answer the driving-licence question

Georgia’s embassy publishes visa-free entry conditions for qualifying UAE residence-permit holders. That immigration benefit is separate from Markhoos recognition language aimed at UAE citizens.
